NOTA and the Indian Voter : Economic and Political Weekly [10 February 2018]

In this article published in Economic and Political Weekly on 10 February 2018, two researchers V R Vachana based in Bengaluru and Maya Roy based in Ahmedabad reviews the use of NOTA option in Indian elections between 2013 and 2016. With its introduction in 2013, it has started to slowly evolve a major player in Indian elections as well. From the data collected from Election Commission they have been able to find certain pattern in their use. "These patterns signal that Indian voters seem to use NOTA not just to show their disapproval of the candidates in the fray but to express their disenchantment with the existing political system."
